Cleaning up for Thanksgiving can be stressful if you are hosting the event or having family stay with you. It doesn't have to be stressful. You can start the count down cleaning up and preparing your house starting today!

If you have been following our daily cleaning challenges or cleaning your house daily you will have less to do. You will need to focus on the internal deep cleaning, organizing, and de-cluttering while resuming with your daily cleaning.

So follow this post if you want to decrease the stress preparing for Thanksgiving.

    First Thing First
Determine what needs to be cleaned and where the guests will likely be staying. So for example you are only hosting Thanksgiving Dinner and the guests will be utilizing the bathrooms, living areas, kitchen, and patio. These will be main focus for cleaning while doing your regular cleaning tasks for the remaining part of your house. There is no need to start spring cleaning the utility room or garage if the guests will not be using them. So keep your focus on the main area they will be using.

    Week One Challenge: November 1st - 10th
For areas or rooms guests will using during Thanksgiving take the time this week to plan the rooms that will need the cleaning and start de-cluttering these areas. Perhaps you will want to get rid of some clutter in guest room closet to make room for guest. De-clutter the bathroom, living room, family area, and even kitchen. Temporarily store items in the garage or another storage area until the event is over.

    De-Clutter This Week
Go through closets, cupboards, drawers, and other areas in each room. Remove things that are taking up space that your guest might want to use. For example guest room closet. Free u p some hanging space and place for guests to put their clothes and other belongings. Make the room functional. Having a perfect Martha Stewart display room is nice but it is not functional. Have areas they can store clothing, bathroom supplies, and so forth. Hanging pockets are great to give guest some place to store brushes and other goodies.

Next week we will focus on organization and cleaning.

Great! I won't be hosting guests (and lack a guest room) but will follow along and just adapt.
